Otnie enjoyed watching Happy Feet 2. We've learned that we should take care of our world 'coz it's the only planet we live for and we could find our greatest skills if we try alot of new things.

It's a musical movie and that's why my son loves it so much. The movie emphasized not to discriminate others, but to unite as one nation in different races, like helping, caring and loving one another.

Most of the time, we don't really need to buy expensive toys for our kids to play, just find a simple things to play with to enjoy. It encouraged them to develop their creativity and to be contented.

We (my husband and i) haven't decided which musical instrument would otnie love to learn next school year. However, i asked otnie about it. He just said "i love to play guitar, i love to play drum, i love to play flute, i love to play violin, i love to play piano... etc. etc. etc." in other words... he loves to learn everything.

I'm searching for my younger brother's wedding song. A video got my attention at JuNCurryAhn link and played it. I never thought that otnie enjoyed imitating at JuNCurryAhn. I quickly grabbed the camera and take a shot :) and here what he did.

Up until now otnie enjoyed imitating at JuNCurryAhn. He usually pray before bedtime that GOD would provide a violin for him.

Lately, otnie studied about land and water forms. While he was exploring and discovering the land and water forms, he's amazed and very appreciated the beauty of God's creation.

I let otnie to watch the movie of WALL•E, so that he may learned something. While he's watching the movie, he saw a lot of garbage and the air are polluted then he said "yeow! oh!!..it's dirty!...lots of garbage and with stinky shoe", then i told him that the world will be like that if we don't take care of it very well.

Otnie learned how to take care the land and water forms by:

conserving water.
taking care of the plants.
throw the garbage on a proper place.
always make the surrounding clean and orderly.
recycle - used ice cream container into a storage for crayons/pens/any school supplies or as a pot for the plants or toy drums to play with. Used BBQ stick/used egg cartons for art crafts. Used soda bottles for any kinds of liquid refiller or drumsticks to play. It taught otnie to be resourceful and creative.

I'm so rushed doing those chores from morning till early afternoon, like preparing dinner in advance and preparing things for my son, so we could join the last evening of bible study series.

Instead of doing things smoothly and well, everything is a messed. I accidentally injured one of my finger because i eagerly killed the only one cockroach under the 3 layered plastic shelves. Otnie ate his lunch too slow, it took almost 2 hours to finish it, i kept on reminding him, but i'm about to blow my anger..."are you done!?!", then he kept saying "yes mom, i'm almost done". While taking his afternoon nap, he made a lots of excuses, like going to pee and going for a drink of water...etc...etc...etc., to make those excuses to an end, i gave him 1st warning and more explanation, but!!...the time is up! he hasn't took his nap.

When we're about to go out, otnie wasn't feeling ok, he had a little bit of diarrhea, but he insisted me.."we need to go and don't mind it", it seems that he doesn't want me to blame him for not going out. So i called my husband for telling about the situation.

I've been so busy and rushed for the whole day, i forgot my son!! even though he's there, but for me he is not existing. I felt guilty in my heart and God wants me to learn something. I hug him tight and told him..."we're not going out, daddy doesn't want us to go out, you're not feeling ok, you need more rest, i'm sorry that mommy was so busy for the whole day and i forgot about you. Daddy and i love you so much."

No matter how stressful my whole day was. God is in control. It's not a big deal for not joining in the last evening of bible study series, but the most important is the time together with my loved ones. Sometimes we're too busy on something and we forgot to give time for our loved ones. Time is very precious because when it pass you can't go back and you can't recover it.

Otnie had a simple birthday party, but he was so satisfied and very happy. He only prayed and wished for is to have a simple birthday cake to blow :) so that's it!

My husband and i bought a birthday cake for him, when we (my husband, otnie and me) got home, we're surprised!! tita sabel (otnie's auntie) gave a BIG.. i mean very big birthday cake for otnie... woaah!

He's so happy to blow two cakes at the same time :) hahaha

Sungka is a well known Filipino game, in which two players re-distribute shells or marbles or pebbles or seeds in the two rows of holes of this board, trying to capture as many as possible in their own hole (own basement). The player who collects the most shells in his/her own basement wins.

That early christmas morning, i found sungka at gwama's(otnie's grandma) shelf. First, i taught otnie how to play, then i do encouraged him to play with me or to anyone. He learned to count easily.

Learning mathematics is not memorizing in our head, but it's how we apply it in our daily lifestyle.

Learn How To Read

"Communication" has an important role to develop a child's learning how to read. The best teaching tools is "the most interest thing to do" for your child.

When otnie was 2 years old, he was fun playing with computer games, so I started to teach him how to read alphabet letters with phonemic awareness at starfall. You could also visit at word world.

He loves to play computer games, especially car race games. This is how he played computer games when he was 2 years old :)

When we go out and saw some sign-age or poster, i'm asking otnie to try reading it. My husband and i always remind him need to learn how to read or else he might get lost.

Sometimes i'll make a fun games while walking down the street, i'll point an object then i say the word in a funny way or sing it or say it loud or soft, and even make funny faces while i say it. After that, i'll test him what's the first or the last letter sound of the word that i mentioned earlier.

Reading is important for many reasons. It gives you time together. It tells your child that reading is very important. It also lets you share your knowledge and ideas with your child.

Before your child can read words, they need to know the sound of letters. We usually play alphabet magnet in front of the fridge, he loves it very much :) like for example.. i will sing "we make a sound Ah Ah Ah..Ah!" while putting the letter "A" in a fun way, or we could play a guessing games. Starfall is the best online reading tools for a starter.

You can help your child develop early reading skills by reading stories out loud and asking your child to think about what is read.

Reading a story becomes a part of otnie everyday activity. I'm so glad that he loves to read on his own.

Birthday Cards For Uncles & Auntie

Use pencil to draw a cake on piece of paper then cut it.
Cut the white cartolina using the art scissor.
Put the cake shaped paper on top of the white cartolina.

What Othniel Rue means?

As a mother of otnie, i wanted to share a story on why i gave my son's name "othniel rue".

Othniel means God is might and powerful one.
Rue is a kind of herb. It was valued for its antiseptic and disinfectant qualities. It was also used to flavor foods and for tithe.

Othniel Rue is my first born child. From in my womb till today, God showed me how powerful He is and He also showed me on how He laid His mighty hands on this child. Whenever i ask a prayer for this child, God answered immediately, i know He love this child so much. So here's the story.

God told me that i will be having a healthy baby, i'm so amazed and puzzled because that time i assumed i'm in one week menstruation period, but God told me that i have to stand firm and to trust Him no matter what may happened. I committed everything unto God's hand and took a pregnancy test, so that's it... i'm pregnant. But my obgyne told me that i have to fully bed rest and she told me also that after a month i have to check if the baby is alive or not. I'm so scared, it seems i'm losing my faith, lots of pain i would be encountering if i lost my son, but my obgyne gave me an encouragement not to give up and have faith in God. I'm so thankful for using this doctor as a tool to remind me on God's unconditional love.

I know God has a purpose for everything. My mom initiated that i have to stay with her so that someone will took care of me while my husband went out for work.

God loves us unconditionally. During my fully bed rest, i felt that He always there to take care of me, when i needed something, it's either big or small, He immediately answered it. I remembered when i'm graving for pizza, while i'm rubbing my tummy, i told God... "hmmm...yum...yum...yum i love pizza, but that's ok if i don't have it" 'coz during weekdays everyone in the house went out to work, so no one is with me except the helper, but i'm a type of contented and shy person. When my mom got home, she bought a pizza for me... wow! i'm so amazed.

Before i've got fully recovered, God told me that He wants me to do something for His glory, it's all about a beautiful lady who needed help and i should be prepared. After a couple days, my husband told me that there was a female looking for me, so i told my husband if she calls back then give her my mom's landline number. That mission was to give an advice and encouragement to a single mom, she is so young to get married and she had one child. The problem is her husband had an affair and had a child with someone else, she couldn't resist on what her husband done to her, so she planned to suicide. Before i got pregnant, i've met this single mom at the internet forum who's seeking for an advice, i posted some advice at the forum and i chatted with her at the internet, but suddenly she stopped communicating with me for almost 2 years, i'm glad that i do have her cellphone number then send her a lot of encouragement message and i gave my landline number but she never calls me back, so i always prayed for her. To make the story short...she called back in God's time :) i never thought that her husband was my childhood playmate and neighbor. At the end, she came to know God and had a good relationship with Him.

I gave birth otnie 1 month earlier than my due date. While i was in the labor room and touching my tummy, i told my son to pray with me..."baby, pray with mommy that God would help us to have a fine delivery." It took me 3 hours at the labor room then almost 20 minutes at the delivery room. God doesn't want me to taste the longer labor pain. After I normally delivered my baby, the doctor said that my baby looks very healthy and no need to put him at the incubator.

Up until now, I've learned that no matter what may happened, God is in control. Whenever I see this child praying for someone else and give thanks for His goodness, it reminds me that I should always pray instead of worrying on something which is not helpful.

Is It Really Hard To Pray?

Have you considered thinking that prayer is just simply thanking God?

Most of the time we forgot to pray during meal time or before bedtime.

Before we eat our meal, we always pray or simply thanking God for provision. God never stop giving things or promising us, but yet once we get what we need or want, thanking was not expected. Let's try to count the things He has given to us today. Have you noticed that there's a lot of things to thank for, but we seldom counting it. Believe me, if we start thanking Him, we will not always grumbling.

Last sunday, it was my older sister's birthday celebration, when the food is served, my son started to pray, but he noticed his uncles put the food on their plate and started to eat.

The Master's Academy Homeschool

Recently, my husband and i joined for orientation at TMA Homeschool ‘coz we’re planning to homeschool my “makulit” son. The topic is clear, simple and understandable. Though my son were so noisy…but still they could be able to deliver the topic and not easily distracted.

I’ve learned from orientation that we parents should not send our children to school just for them to learn and finished schooling, they told us that homeschool teaches how to live a worthy and meaningful life.

My husband and i prayed if it’s God’s will for us to send our son to homeschool. We been praying for that since before we had our son was born, and we included in our prayers that if homeschool would have high school then it is His will. And as the years goes and our son otnie nearly get his age for schooling we’ve heard that TMA homeschool going to have high school and that is the real go for us to send our son to TMA homeschool.

I’m so excited to have my son homeschool but yet he haven’t have the right age for him to start coz’ he need to reach 3 years and 6 months for him to start kindergarten 4. But yet I already started teaching him how to read and write through playing, singing, dancing, talking, and tell a story. I really thank God that He is always there to help me know how to teach my son. But I’m so amazed! coz’ at early age my son learned a little knowledge how to read simple word and became so independent. I also thank my husband for always there to support me and encouraging me not to give up.

Homeschool is not so stressful for kids and not always rushing to go to school coz’ they study at home. And they would learn how to have devotional bible study, it’s another step that they would know God. Parents and kids would have closer relationship. As parent-teacher we could encourage more our children to study and we could easily help them on things they don’t understand or which subject they are weak. If social life is the problem which others are telling… well…the primary or basic socialization starts at home. Homeschool is not a whole day activity at home, there would also be time for gathering for co-homeschool kids; friends; relatives; neighborhoods; or in every workshops; events; outreaches; retreats that they attended, they could have lots of friends.
