Jack-o-Lantern - Halloween Lantern

Materials: Toilet paper, Glass Jar, Paint brushes, Poster Paint, Black art paper (jack-o-lantern face), Candles

It was our first time to make jack-o-lantern in used glass jar. First, we tried to paint the used glass jar, then failed. Secondly, we're having a hard time gluing the parchment paper at the glass jar....but we're failed again.

At last it works! YahOooO!!! my husband gave an idea! instead of parchment paper, why not trying to use toilet paper. So we used paint brush to damp the toilet paper at the used glass jar with poster paint.

Here's some example for printable pattern of jack-o-lantern face. Thanks SheKnows for wonderful templates.

my toys

Otnie loves fixing toys. No matter how really bad the toy is, he still cares for it. When i'm going to throw some of his "no use at all toys".. he always told me "no.. mommy, it might be useful and i could still play with it".

It all started with his dad. His daddy loves to fix anything!... :) and store things that we might think "no longer useful at all".

God wants us to be a good example to our kids because they always see and imitate us. But the most important is to let them learn and experience to love God.

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. (Proverbs 22:6).

Wet Market

Otnie had a lot of friends at the wet market. When he's not with me, they asked me panicky "where's otnie?!? where's your baby?!?", it seems they know otnie well than i am...hahahaha

I wanted Otnie to have a good relationship with them. You know...how naughty he can be, at his very young age he doesn't know what is right or what is wrong, as a parents we should guide our children. In Proverbs 22:6 says "Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it."

One time I caught Otnie playing those vegetables by throwing or juggling at it. I warned and explained him 3 times, but he didn't stop, so i asked him to say goodbye to them. When we got home, i disciplined him for disobeying and messing the store. Then i hugged him and said "mommy loves you very much, Jesus is so sad if you do something bad. The owner of the store wouldn't like you anymore because you messed all their stuff and the food they eat came from what they sell, so how could they sell those if it spoiled up? God doesn't like playing those vegetable because it's what God had provided us for food and He doesn't like it to be wasted."

I guided and helped Otnie to make a sorry card and at the back of it that says "I'm sorry for messing your store."

land forms and water forms

Lately, Otnie studied about land and water forms. While he was exploring and discovering the land and water forms, he's amazed and very appreciated the beauty of God's creation.

I let Otnie to watch the movie WALL•E, so that he may learned something new. While he's watching the movie, he saw lots of garbage, the air are polluted! then he said "yeow! oh!!..it's dirty!...lots of garbage and with stinky shoe", i said "the world will be like that if we are not concerned to our surroundings."

Otnie learned how to take care the land and water forms by:

  • conserving water.
  • taking care of the plants.
  • throw the garbage on a proper place.
  • always make the surrounding clean and orderly.
  • recycle - used ice cream container into a storage for crayons/pens/any school supplies or as a pot for the plants or toy drums to play with. Used BBQ stick/used egg cartons for art crafts. Used soda bottles for any kinds of liquid re-filler or drumsticks to play. It taught Otnie to be resourceful and creative.

For Artcraft:
piece of brown art paper cut into a big triangle for mountain

then paste it.

draw some waves using blue crayon or color pencil for sea

Put glue all over the sea and mountain parts, then sprinkle some sands

draw a sun using orange and yellow color crayon or color pencil

draw some birds using brown and black color crayon or color pencil

Otnie learned that if we are not concerned to our dear world very well, God will be sad and we don't have place to live including animals. So...it's never too late and let's start taking care of it.

A Very Big Boat

In the story of noah's ark (bible: Genesis 7-8), God made a rainbow as a symbol of His 3 promises.
  1. Never to flood the earth again.
  2. There would always be seasons of the year.
  3. Day would follow night.
Otnie learned that he will never forget to say thank you to God and to others.
